
Stress
Stress similar to anxiety can cause a multitude of unpleasant symptoms. Typical symptoms are tachycardia, arrhythmia nausea and vomiting, a nervous stomach, shortness of breath and sleep problems. Anxiety can make pain worse and harder to cope with. Yet it is often not evaluated or reacted upon in the clinical routine.
ACTION:
Evaluate level of stress (NRS 0-10) in the recovery room and prior to surgery
